There are great benefits to being a WAHM or a “work at home mom”. No daycare costs for one thing, being at the same place all day as your kids are is very nice. You are never late for work. If you choose you are more comfortable in you pajamas you can work in your pajamas all day long. Running your own business and being an entrepreneur is exciting and you have the potential to make a ton of money! And you can struggle with getting the laundry done and keeping the house clean just like every other mother in the world.
Mom is typically the Chief Executive Officer of the entire household. It doesn’t matter if she works outside or inside the house her job is to make sure that the family runs smoothly. It can be overwhelming at times. A work at home mom has to be even more disciplined seeing as she is busy working and making a living and she shouldn’t take time away from work to clean the house, do the laundry and scrub the toilets even if it will just take a second.
In nearly all households the Mom does the bulk of the cleaning of the kitchen and the laundry and scrubbing the toilets. Along with planning the meals, doing the grocery shopping and attending all of the PTA meetings. Many Dad’s help out and I am not saying that they don’t but for some reason the messy kitchen and the dirty dishes seem to scream louder at Mom than they do at Dad.
Sure, most of that is mom’s fault. Most mom’s desire to have it all, a excellent business or career, plenty of money in the bank, well behaved and stunning children and a clean house to boot. In addition we also want plenty of free time to exercises and get in shape, read books, surf the Internet and enjoy family time. Can a WAHM have it all?
The truth is that when you are trying to do it all by yourself something has to give. After all there are only so many hours in a day. We have heard that behind every successful woman is a huge pile of dirty laundry and that is true. It’s tough to get the laundry done when you are working on much more important things.
In a perfect world, moms could delegate out a lot of of the household chores that she is stressed with. First off, hire a housecleaner. There are people who like to clean and they should be paid to do it. Mom can be doing what she loves which is working on the business and the home can still be spotless. That is a fantastic solution!
And mom can hire someone to do the laundry; the yard work and she can even get the groceries delivered. Mom has better things to do and her time is better spent on something else.
Nevertheless even with all of the inherent difficulties of working at home, keeping the house clean and getting the laundry done being a WAHM is a great gig. It works for me. However, my kitchen is still a mess and there is a large pile of soiled clothes in the laundry room. Better try to hire that maid quickly!
